Photographs are perfect blends of truth and fiction. Truth because optics and technology reproduce an actual event. Fiction because the viewer can only experience one perspective, the photographer's. The photographer shares a story that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. They pick up on subtleties and share emotions in places we may never go. They fill our minds with memories of places we have been. They often become our memories.
One of the best aspects of photography is that all are invited to participate. Similar to writing a book, everyone has the ability to take a photograph. And similar to authors, those who practice, those who persevere and those who train their eye to the finest details will consistently write the better photographs. I am on that journey and I invite you to along as well.
